Laurent and Marie-Hélène de Cherisey, accompanied by their five children, set off for a year-long video documentary journey around the world to meet "builders of hope," men and women who are fighting to ensure that the world we leave to our children is filled with justice, equality, and hope.
Our world isn't always turning very smoothly... And that can be frightening: what kind of world will we leave to our children?
Laurent and Marie-Hélène de Cherisey left for fourteen months with their five children to meet men and women from all walks of life who, in their own countries, are working towards a more just world. As a family, they shared a few days of the lives of each of these 21st-century builders to collect and film their stories. The Cheriseys wanted to discover with their children the "secret" of these people who, in the face of problems, overcame their feelings of powerlessness to initiate profound changes.
In this volume, which recounts the first part of their journey, from Brazil to Vietnam, they tell us about Rodrigo's dream, which allowed 600,000 young people from shantytowns to access computers; the decisive fight of Josefina, a former "domestic slave," to free young Peruvian girls from this hell; the secret of Pisit in Thailand or Fabio in Brazil to offer a better future to the millions left behind by modernity...
The de Cherisey family acts as "bearers of hope" here, sharing these fabulous experiences and initiatives with us. They prove to us that if globalization is frightening, it can also offer a positive face and an unforeseen potential: that of these large-scale responses emerging all around the planet and which six billion human beings can help to develop.
