November 1989: the Jules Verne high-comfort train, which departed Nantes at 6:17 a.m., arrives at Montparnasse station at 9:12 a.m. The conductor is horrified to discover a man strangled to death in the locked toilet of carriage 13. According to his ID card, the victim lives at 3 rue de l'Abreuvoir in Nantes, an address that no longer exists. Worse still! The civil registry declares the man died in 1943.
