My name is Maude Ménard-Bérubé, and today is my birthday. I'm ten years old, but it annoys me because I should be older. After all, Sophie and Marianne will soon be eleven, and I'm definitely more mature than them. It's always bothered me to be among the youngest in my class and to have to celebrate my birthday in the middle of summer, when everyone is on vacation. If I had been born during the school year, I could celebrate it at school and have all the attention on me. I like: the handsome Antonin, surprises, dancing, fashion, my friends Jeanne, Sophie, Clara, Charlotte, and Marianne (when I'm not fighting with her). I don't like: girls who dare to sit at our cafeteria table, Marianne when she copies me or tries to steal my boyfriend, my parents' incessant arguments, and clingy boys.
