The origin of the arson that will devastate the Grand Museum in 2020 lies first in the madness of Bergamme, a kleptomaniac and iconoclastic dwarf. To save what he believes to be unique in Art, he claims to steal, retouch, and leave unfinished the most famous paintings—starting with "The Origin of the World," in front of which he so often causes scandals at the Grand Museum...
But the responsibility for the tragedy also falls on Gerbraun, the chief curator, an apostle of the mass duplication of masterpieces, who opens the prestigious institution's backstage to Bergamme, an institution suddenly overrun by a dangerous sexual inebriation.
As both a painter and a novelist, Rezvani scrutinizes, through a provocative imagination, the highest aspirations and the most complete absurdities of our museum practices, transforming the love of Art into a passion as ambiguous as it is dangerous.
