REVIEWS (SUMMARY)

SELLING POINTS:
VERSAILLES, 1672. On the construction site of his future palace, Louis XIV is indifferent to the fate of the workers who die at their task and to that of a young gardener found murdered in La Quintinie's kitchen garden. However, shouldn't His Majesty be wary? Poison lurks at the Court of the King of France, and no one knows from whom the retribution will come. From La Montespan, an expert in all kinds of drugs? Or from those Catalans revolted against the unbearable salt tax and whom the king crushed and humiliated, because a ribbon in their colors, blood and gold, was found in the victim's fingers? Then, the king's dragoons, involved in the killing of a family of farmers from Prats-de-Mollo, the village from which the revolt against the King of France began, disappear one after another. So many signs that Louis XIV refuses to acknowledge despite the warnings of his faithful Vauban. What is the fatal link that unites these men and Agnès, a survivor of this massacre who came to Court to use her healing talents with the queen? Does she hold the secret of this herb that the king seeks to calm his fevers, which would then be the true object of her revenge?
