Used book – Our Grandmothers' Books of Morals, Collective

In elementary schools of yesteryear, moral education was compulsory. Small textbooks were published for schoolchildren. Today, we are reprinting a late 19th-century work, the most widely circulated of its kind, re-edited over twenty-five times and given to children until the 1920s. Each lesson includes a short story, a poem, or a brief true account, followed by short, illustrated maxims. Supplementary materials and notes extracted from a similar title from the 1870s accompany it.

These pages from the past are a pleasure to read. They remind us of common-sense rules, timeless social skills essential for community life. Older readers will fondly recall childhood memories, while younger readers will find a guide to "anti-hooliganism."
