There was Amélie, the first love, the first body, the first continent. The memory drifts and gets bogged down, but the taste for the unknown remains: the faces encountered from port to port, between Africa and Chile, the colors, the scents of brushed bodies. When he returns to Paris, the sailor, who loves women, immediately sets off again, thirsting for adventure, towards the world as he dreams it.
Bernard Giraudeau was born in La Rochelle in 1947. An actor and filmmaker, he directed feature films, including L'Autre and Les Caprices d'un fleuve, and documentaries. He is also the author of children's stories and the novel Le Marin à l’ancre, available in the Points collection.
"Composed of a hundred narratives, like so many interlocking short stories, this novel once again strikes with its energy, the sharpness of its humanity, its inner vibration."
