Gruissan native Didier Codorniou was one of the greatest three-quarters of his generation. The "Little Prince" long dazzled rugby fields around the world with his talent and generosity. Didier Codorniou participated in the epic 1979 season with the famous victory, on July 14, against the All Blacks on their home turf. The same year, he contributed to a long-awaited victory for the entire city of Narbonne: the French Championship, "the Bouclier de Brennus." Ten years later, Didier Codorniou reclaimed the national title with Stade Toulousain. He celebrated his jubilee in 1994 with his "twin" on the field, François Sangalli. After transitioning into politics, "Codor" was elected mayor of his beloved village, Gruissan, in Aude, in 2001. For him, a grandson of immigrants from humble beginnings, the political struggle shares many similarities with rugby: commitment, generosity, and a desire to fight to move forward. Over time, Didier Codorniou established himself as a leader in regional politics in Languedoc-Roussillon. His leitmotif is the same as it once was on the field: "to offer and to give."
