Following on from its work on Mediterranean societies (Saveurs, senteurs: le goût de la méditerranée, 1998; Figures du passeur, 2002; Rythmes et lumières de la Méditerranée, 2003; Le corps dans les cultures méditerranéennes, 2007; Le rire européen, 2010), the VECT-Mare Nostrum EA 2983 team makes an in-depth foray into the field of care and health. Stemming from a doctoral seminar, the question was problematized by researchers from VECT Axis 4 SALAM (Sociology and Anthropology of Lability, Alterity and Mobility), through a partnership with their counterparts from GRAS (Groupe de Recherche en Anthropologie de la Santé, University of Oran Es Senia, DZ), in alternating mobilities, and with the support of the sociology department of UPVD.

Following on from the Euro-Mediterranean cooperation programs involving the two Universities of Perpignan Via Domitia and Oran es Senia, in the Averroès network, these days allowed teachers and students from both sides to develop a line of reflection and intercultural exchanges, in order to highlight the work of the various researchers, particularly through joint doctoral degrees. Under the title: "Care, Sociomorphosis", the concept is questioned here as a relationship, through the transformation of practices and care professions. This transdisciplinary approach to care, understood in a broad sense, as a place for the recomposition of social relations and as a process of inventing social ties, traces the diverse origins and journeys of the participants, who lead the reader to Algeria and France, but also to Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Congo and even Cambodia.
