Kent Harrington The Oath Translated from the English (United States) by Guy Abadia The son of a wealthy doctor, Collin Reeves is an idealistic young doctor who chose to work in the Middle East, where he was recruited by the CIA, and then at the American hospital in Mexico City. His path crosses that of a mysterious young woman, Dolores, with whom he falls madly in love. The latter, traveling under a false identity, is in reality an Iraqi woman on a suicide mission for Al-Qaeda. Raised in London, a Christian, she returned to live in Baghdad shortly before the second Gulf War. But a personal tragedy drove her to despair. To avenge her loved ones, she swore to become a martyr. However, the local CIA branch, led by veteran Alex Law and his sidekick Butch Nickels, obtains information that a terrorist operation is being prepared in Mexico. Enlisting Collin Reeves, the two agents then embark on a real race against time, using all means to trace the network, including torture - which repulses the young doctor, bound by the Hippocratic Oath. The net soon closes around Dolores. The destiny of these two beings, each bound by a radically opposed oath, will then tip... Addressing the subject of terrorism through complex and deeply human characters, Kent Harrington signs a thriller with a touch of espionage and noir fiction, both striking and disturbing. Born in San Francisco, Kent Harrington lives between the United States and Mexico. He is a screenwriter and writer. Four of his novels have already been translated into French: The Day of the Dead, Dark Ride, The Tattooed Muse and Point of No Return, where the characters of Alex Law and Butch Nickels appeared.
