Retired to the vast family estate in Bergheim, Württemberg, a famous musician revisits his childhood, a world torn between two languages, made up of cats, children, and old maids with an old-world refinement. He remembers his mother who abandoned him when he was four years old. He discovers what is perhaps the center of his life: the friendship he shared with Florent in the 1960s. Years pass and people who had separated in violence or sadness, ten years later, meet again.
