THE BASKET, JEAN LEROY, MATTHIEU MAUDET

She is an old witch, ugly and wicked, who loves nothing and no one, and rarely leaves her home except to go gather poisonous mushrooms. One day, turning a bend in a path, she discovers a basket. In this basket, there is a baby. Frightened by the witch's hooked nose, the baby begins to scream. Frightened by the baby's cries, the witch flees back to her home. But what strange power do this baby's cries possess, for a witch who loves nothing and no one to suddenly decide to retrace her steps?
