"There are privileged moments, moments we haven't necessarily chosen, that finally allow us to take the time to share with the French people; it's one of those moments that allowed me to write this book. I chose to reveal to them what drives me forward in this political world whose codes I don't always appreciate. Just like them!

I have always had a strong desire to help change the lives of the French people. In the shadow of Nicolas Sarkozy, then as a parliamentarian, I was able to act to improve their daily lives. The Ministry of Speech? I mean "the speech of my political party"? was, for me, an honor. I even sometimes took pleasure in retorting to the malicious. But that contributed to my own caricature; the French saw me as the President's musketeer, without always perceiving my deep commitment to a more just society, for a society of well-being where quality trumps quantity.

It is by looking back at certain episodes of my life, at my political action, that I strive to outline useful reforms to prepare our country for profound change. Rather than criticism, I chose proposals.

This is a book about work, health, education, creation, housing, secularism, globalization, and the identity of France, but also life and death. Without taboo or provocation."
