Désirée regularly visits the grave of her husband, who had the bad taste to die too young. A librarian and city dweller, she lives in a trendy, all-white apartment filled with books. At the cemetery, she often encounters the guy from the grave next door, whose appearance annoys her as much as the flashy headstone he assiduously decorates with flowers. Since his mother's death, Benny lives alone on the family farm with his twenty-four dairy cows. He manages as best he can, with his rural common sense and a good dose of self-deprecating humor. Every time he meets her, he is exasperated by his cemetery neighbor, her felt hat, and her little poetry notebook.
One day, however, a smile breaks out simultaneously on their lips, leaving them both dazzled... It's the beginning of a consuming passion. With breathtaking romanticism and biting humor, this tender and uninhibited love story raises the very serious question of culture clash.
