In "Le Goût du péché" (The Taste of Sin), Esparbec, with his usual verve, describes the depravities indulged in (each on her own) by a mother and daughter to relieve the boredom of a late summer season in a hotel on the Normandy coast. Of these two lecherous vacationers, it would be difficult to say who deserves the Oscar for concupiscence! From rutting bellboys to lustful maids, from the oily maître d'hôtel to the old connoisseur of young girls, from the cynical Riviera Don Juan with a penchant for spanking to the lewd notary who enjoys "sharing" his conquests with his friends in front of a log fire, everyone gets involved, sometimes with one, sometimes with the other, and no one complains... especially not the readers!
