Sacha Stavisky, the son of a Russian immigrant who became a naturalized French citizen, rose in just a few years to become the greatest swindler of the century. He allied himself with prominent figures in the political and financial world, who helped him carry out his favorite activities: "scams" involving state money or insurance companies, fraud in public works, and so on.
