A mansion, a powerful family, a dark secret...
In Augsburg, near Munich, in 1913, young Marie is hired to work in the kitchen at the Cloth Villa, the residence of the Melzers, owners of an impressive textile factory. While the young orphan tries to find her place among the servants, the masters anticipate the start of the winter ball season, which will allow the beautiful Katharina, the youngest daughter of the family, to shine brightly in society. Paul, the main heir, stays away from such social events, as he much prefers his student life in Munich. At least until he meets Marie... When World War I tears Europe and the rest of the world apart, the Villa and its inhabitants will be on the front lines of the conflict and will undergo upheavals whose effects will shake the entire household, the factory, and its employees. What will the future hold for Marie and all these people who have become her family?
