Born in 1931, John le Carré worked for the Foreign Office for a long time. Compromised by a double agent, he decided to dedicate himself to writing spy novels. Several are available in paperback, including The Tailor of Panama and The Constant Gardener. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is the first volume of the Karla Trilogy.
