Margaux is forty years old. After the accidental death of her partner, she left her hospital in Burgundy and now works with abused children within the protective walls of a government ministry.
She is assigned a mission: to investigate The Children's Home, an institution in Auxerre that takes in children who have been hurt by life and society. In this home are France, with a nightingale's voice and a body broken by a landmine, the enigmatic Hugues who is on a hunger strike, the touching Martin who has refused to speak since his brother drowned before his eyes, and Kenza... and Cédric. About ten children supervised by generous doctors. The investigation promises to be full of pitfalls, as many enemies wish to have it banned, claiming it houses dangerous psychotics.
Margaux gradually regains a taste for life. The time has come for her to fight a new battle.
