An exceptional literary document!

There is talent – that explosion according to René Fallet – and the “know-how” learned at school or in the workshop. He had both, a predisposition for talent that his passion for writing brought to its highest level.

There is life and there is “savoir-vivre” (social graces), which doesn't mean life with an instruction manual, but, for René Fallet, the expression of a widespread hypocrisy that he resolutely turns his back on.

Literature serves as his savoir-vivre. A serious semantic error. According to his own notes, he eagerly tears himself on all the barbed wire created by his imagination, he is mortally bored between two pages, and is already less bored when he writes that he is bored. His taste for gracefully written things, whatever the subject, be it literary, poetic, bicycling, football, or fishing, occupies a large part of his time, but he gets bored as soon as he looks up from his desk. Then, he falls in love, and, believing he is experiencing a great love, he wholeheartedly prepares to survive in its ruins.

In short, he doesn't know how to deal with real life, and it's not for nothing that he writes in giant letters on his bedroom wall "Real life is absent."

Paradoxically, nothing resembles real life more than these 450 pages of singular, impertinent, surprising, and so perfectly honest literature…
