– What were you doing in Mom's room?

– I stole a picture. A tiny little picture.

– You look so much like her, my sister said.

I put the picture in my jeans pocket. I sat on it for thirty years.

– The picture came out of my pocket! I told my sisters. I saw the man in the picture!

– Who?

– The one with the same name as us, the same name as me. It's not a picture, it's a man!

So I have a father. What should I do? For thirty years I've been answering: "I don't have a father. I only have a picture." Faced with sympathetic looks, for thirty years I've been answering: "I don't have a father, but I don't care, that's just how it is."
