Used Book – Supermarket Cop, Régis Sérange

Hired by a surveillance company to ensure the security of a hypermarket, Régis Sérange soon discovers that he is expected to do more than just the traditional apprehension of suspects. Indeed, the cameras made available to him (some of which were installed in complete illegality) are not only used to observe customers but also the company's employees: cashiers, receptionists, department managers, and staff representatives are systematically filmed, spied on in their every move. Hoping to land a job that will lift him out of precariousness, Régis nevertheless agrees to play along. Over the course of his "missions," he gains the trust of his superiors. He is quickly called upon to implement various forms of psychological harassment and to "clean house" in several stores of the group. After three years of "investigations" and stakeouts, just as he begins to question the purpose of his work, the trap closes: he knows too much and becomes a threat to the system he helped put in place. Abandoned by his superiors, he finds himself unemployed with no possibility of finding a job in the same sector. He decides to speak out. His testimony is uncompromising, both for himself and for the system of which he is one of many cogs. Today, at 36, he wishes to dedicate himself fully to his children and his passion, photography.
