Used book – Fini d'écrire !, Tassadit Imache

These are books, invisible and irresponsible, that saved me from lethargy, from arson and the morbid seduction of despair. Carried far from fate without batting an eyelid, awakened and held in suspense, excited to live. Books that allowed me to penetrate a plurality of worlds, of languages, playing with the oppressive materiality of walls, exploding the horizon.

With this text, Tassadit Imache pauses and reflects. Does she write to avenge the invisible, to refuse to be assigned to an origin, to embrace the pride of her working-class parents? To reproduce the exuberance of reality, to understand what animates or extinguishes the gaze of others? Or to attempt something as fragile and complicated as being in the world, among humans?

Born in Argenteuil in 1958, Tassadit Imache has published six novels, including Une fille sans histoire (Calmann-Lévy, 1989), Presque un frère (Actes sud, 2000) and Des cœurs lents (Agone, 2017).
