Used Book – Etxemendi, Florence Delay

Engineer Etxemendi wanted nothing to do with the country where he was born. He had left it as a child, after the Spanish Civil War. If he returns today, it is to quickly settle an inheritance matter. But an unforeseen event decides otherwise. It is in Biarritz, around midnight, that he takes the step that derails, that hazardous step so unlike him: he enters a private garden. A young woman opens her door to him. Is it him she is expecting? Apparently not, as the man this woman thinks she is opening up to is wanted by the police. Reluctantly but irresistibly, Etxemendi finds himself drawn into a double adventure that does not shy away. That of a woman and that of a people whose cause is as obscure as their language. The country in question is neither in the East nor in the West. It consists of seven provinces, three of which are in France, to the North, and four in Spain, to the South. Thus, the novel is divided into two, claiming its own autonomy.
