Used book – What if man had to die ...., Jean Marie Fonrouge

All emergency doctors know the case of the young woman who had ingested heart medication and whom a SAMU team and an emergency department resuscitated thanks to external cardiac massage performed for six hours... allowing her, in the end, to recover a life without after-effects. So, fighting there, yes. Sometimes even fighting unreasonably, postponing the cessation of resuscitation of a road accident victim by thirty minutes because he is young... then seeing this colleague pursue it for another fifteen minutes because he has a wedding ring... Above all, seeing that doctors have in them this desire to reinvent the life to come because it's too soon, because it's too unfair, because outside, sitting and protected from the cold, is the young woman of this man who will not want to believe that it's already over. A moving story. By its style, its verve, the voice that carries it. And by the nature of the narrative: neither novel nor essay, this testimonial book speaks of a profession - "unthinkable", almost "crazy" - that of a resuscitation doctor, an emergency doctor at that. To reinvent life when all hope seems lost. Jean Marie Fonrouge practiced this profession for more than twenty years in SAMU. He speaks of it with conviction, with doubt, with anger, with hope. The scenes he describes are all the more powerful because they are lived. They question the practice of medicine, make us reflect on our own relationship to death, remind us of the essential and tell us what life is made of. This book is a cry, a message.
