Discover in detail all the concepts related to degrowth! When common language is no longer sufficient to express what urgently needs to be articulated, it's time to learn a new vocabulary. This book explores the main keywords of degrowth and provides a true toolkit for thinking about a radical transformation of our societies that finally emphasizes the idea of a "good life." The diversity of entries in this encyclopedic dictionary, written by leading specialists, shows that this concept, while certainly touching on ecological and environmental issues, is far from limited to them. With contributions from Mauro Bonaiuti, Arturo Escobar, Marco Deriu, Tim Jackson, Paul Ariès, Serge Latouche, Agnès Sinaï, and others... An indispensable source of inspiration! in partnership with the Institut Momentum Detail: The term "degrowth" is increasingly present in public debate today. However, its meaning remains uncertain for many. To avoid the ignorance or bad faith that sometimes equates it with the current stagnation of Western economies, and sometimes denounces it as a project of "returning to candlelight" by a few "eco-reactionaries," it was more than time to offer the public a detailed overview of what it truly encompasses. Since its first appearance in the 1970s, the notion has been considerably enriched, to the point of becoming a subject of reflection for all those who call for radical social transformation. This work, consisting of about sixty in-depth articles, is the first thematic synthesis aiming to define its contours and identify its multiple intellectual sources. The aim here is to highlight the main axes of the issues embraced by degrowth, to present the forms of action that are related to or claim it, and, by leaving open the internal debate on a number of key questions, to expose and nurture an already well-advanced collective and international discussion. The diversity of entries in this encyclopedic dictionary, written by leading specialists, shows that this concept, while certainly touching on ecological and environmental issues, is far from limited to them. We will discover that degrowth aims to thoroughly study the impact of economic and industrial logics on the conditions of existence on the planet, and to reflect on other forms of organization of production and exchange; that it provides a systematic critique of our societal choices and their relationship to what it calls the "good life," while laying the foundations for possible counter-models; finally, that it is interested in all current collective experiences that demonstrate, all over the world, the existence of creative and resilient resistances to the dogma of growth.
