Born German in 1917, Stéphane Hessel chose de Gaulle and the Resistance; he was deported, participated in major moments of international life, and became a French ambassador. Behind this exceptional journey lies an original character who professes a taste for risk and respect for others. From the UN to Saigon, via Algiers or New York, he reflects on his life as a committed man. Outraged.
Stéphane Hessel was born in Berlin in 1917. A former student of the École Normale Supérieure, a Resistance fighter, a deportee, and a diplomat, he was a close collaborator of Pierre Mendès France and Michel Rocard. In 2010, he revisited the motivations for his commitment in Indignez-vous! (Time for Outrage!).
