It all begins with a simple notebook, the size of a school exercise book, with ruled lines, that Laurent Gerra has never parted with and to which he has always given pride of place in his heart. It is his grandfather's War Diary, which he wrote before his eyes when he was a child. With a few crossed-out words here and there, the text was written in a single sitting, like a story one has carried within oneself for too long. Many years later, the comedian decided to make it known. Especially since these memories bear witness to the "phony war" experienced by so many French people from the summer of 1939... And so, before our eyes, another time, another era, and the unbreakable bond between a grandfather and his grandson come back to life. For Laurent Gerra grew up with this man who told him about his war, from mobilization to joining the resistance, but also about life, the nature he loved so much, and, without knowing it, set him on his way by offering him, one day, his first audience. That was the spark of his passion. He wasn't even 5 years old...
