Paris 1931, the Colonial Exhibition. A few days before the official inauguration, all the crocodiles in the backwater suddenly died, either poisoned or victims of unsuitable food. A solution was negotiated by the organizers to remedy the disaster. The Höffner circus from Frankfurt-am-Main, wishing to renew the interest of the German public, offered to lend theirs, but in exchange for an equal number of Kanaks. No problem! The "cannibals" would be dispatched. Inspired by this authentic event, the story unfolds against the backdrop of 1930s Paris – its mentalities, the strange world of the Exhibition – while also putting into perspective the revolts that would take place half a century later in New Caledonia.
