Following the anthology *Pièces détachées* which presented 33 poets of the extreme contemporary, *Caisse à outils* now provides the instructions for reassembling the pieces. This essay invites an exploration of the most prominent territories of contemporary poetry in France, mapping its currents, analyzing strong trends, and offering guidance so that everyone can find their way in this abundant and incredibly vibrant universe.
What is "negative modernity"? What is the status of sound poetry, performance, and constrained writing? Who are Dada's heirs? Where do rock, slam, and song fit in? What are the tools, forms, and techniques of contemporary poetry?
These are just some of the questions that find many answers under the joyfully impertinent and highly informed pen of Jean-Michel Espitallier.
