At 45, Jean-Louis Massard developed a passion for rickshaw-wallahs, these despised pedicab drivers of Southeast Asia. Involved in charities and sensitive to the world around him, one day, a memory sparked a desire to return to the subcontinent and meet humble rickshaw drivers to discover and share their living conditions.
He arrived in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the iconic capital of rickshaws, in October 2008, with the contact information of Mustaffa, a farmer who had become a rickshaw-wallah. With him, he delved into the popular suburban neighborhoods and immediately immersed himself in the dizzying world of rickshaw companies. He even bought a pedicab himself to better understand their daily lives and set off alone on his tricycle on the country's roads before continuing his journey in India... His encounters revealed a vibrant, surprising Bangladesh, and his own preconceptions about the country crumbled... A unique and singular human and civic experience.
